After 6 weeks, a birthday and a whole ton of fun, my final results are in! I had a great time with all of the trainers at ASI and look forward to future workouts with such an amazing team! Over the past 6 weeks, I learned a lot about what my body can take (and not take) for that matter. I had a first-hand experience with ASI and Speedflex. And in such a short time, I had some great results! After my first 3 weeks of working out, I started to worry about losing too much weight (I didn’ t w
My most recent workout at ASI consisted of a quasi-professional golfer workout. Jack went easy on me because a typical workout for these guys can be closer to an hour. But if you want to be the best, it takes work! A little combo of stretching, cardio and weights along with my own body weight led to another great workout! So, if you are a golfer , professional or not, wanting to get better, ASI can offer training by a Pro Golf Fitness provider certified by the Titleist Performance Institute.
So, here are the results after 3 short weeks of working out at ASI. This was pretty motivating to keep pushing me for the second half of my little journey! Although I feel like I am dying from a heart attack, today I found out I am healthy. So, that is good. Here is how my friends at ASI explained it to me. In the first picture below, about 20 minutes into my workout, my heart rate was at 96%. In a little over 2 minutes (the second picture), I dropped it to 77%. The recovery time is what is important here. So, good, I am healthy. Whew. But, the most EXCITING thing about today was that I got to train with the MAN himself. Yes, Mr. Darren Holmes, for
←Me before working out today Seriously, I love these trainers! They all have their own unique personalities, but they all are there to do one thing and do it WELL. And today, that was getting my butt up and working! On my rainy crummy Monday, Travis was there to save the day and today it was Daniel. If I didn’t have them motivating me, I wouldn’t have worked out today. Thanks guys! Here was what I did today! (two rounds!!!) Speedflex x15 each Squats Railroads PCP Bent Over Row
It is raining outside and I was already feeling blah. However, I mustered up the energy to head down to ASI and complete my Monday work-out. Part of my motivation was remembering all of the cookies I ate this weekend as well as knowing that in a week I am halfway done with my 6-week commitment, so I really want to see results! Here is what I did today…. 3 Rounds of Each Push Ups x20 Incline Press x10 Medicine Ball Slams x15 Upright Rows x20 Pull Ups/Inverted Rows x10 Sand Bag Pick Ups x7 &
In my book, that is a major achievement, especially considering I never wanted to go anywhere near those machines at ASI! And although there are athletes that train here, there are plenty of regular people just like me too! Ginnie trained me today and she was really good about focusing on my “form”. I think that is important because it is definitely one of the differentiating factors about ASI. They really want to make sure you do it right. The goal is to get good at your form and then you will
During today’s workout (which I have to admit thanks to Daniel was one of the toughest that I have had so far!), I wore a heart rate monitor. This is something that all members of ASI have access to (it is actually included in the initiation fee). With the monitoring you can see what your body is doing and really capture how hard you are working. After about 2 minutes today, I was at 96%. See graph below. This was called “GPP” or General Physical Preparedness. Well, I knew going into it, I
Well I had my first injury today. It might not look that bad, but let me TELL YOU…it hurt like hell. But I guess that is the point. Today Katie was my trainer. She is a power not to be reckoned with, even if she only weighs as much as a carton of eggs. She had me doing “box jumps”. Well, this girl (me) and “jumping” are not something that goes together. So, even using the shortest, smallest plyometric box, I fell. I hit my shin at about a hundred miles away. After I stopped swearing and nearly c
